The FishSmith Story

A modern take on traditional Kiwi F&C FishSmith Herne Bay is a casual takeaway seafood joint situated in the heart of the Jervois Road. It’s traditional fish and chips taken to the next level, using the best local ingredients we can find including seasonal, fresh fish fillets. Also, less traditionally, it’s fish tacos, squid buns, fried halloumi, fresh salads…check out the menu for our modern seafood and vegetarian options.

Fish’n is our mission. We pride ourselves on the way we present our locally supplied, healthy takeaways. FishSmith has a menu where you can pick your own piece of fresh fish to be grilled or fried, served with whatever handmade sauce takes your fancy and accompany it with coleslaw, chopped salad, or our skin on Agria chips. Prices are reasonable and orders are usually ready within 10 minutes. When ‘Levels’ allow, pop in to order and pick up, otherwise use the ‘Order & Collect’ option on this website.

“I opened FishSmith in 2014 after a career as a fine dining chef. My goal was (and still is) to offer the best fresh fish, fries and salads I can to the wider public. Also, to offer more modern options than a traditional F&C menu usually provides, like fish tacos, fresh oysters in season, and our own house-made sauces, salads and dressings. It is about making the right choices, not giving people hundreds of choices.
